Tilt-It

“A playful interactive product, that encourages people to become aware of taking more time for rest and relaxation.

Tilt It invites the user to find stillness by balancing out the six different shapes.”

When the product is set into a certain position, the user is able to leave it like a statue. As a constant reminder that you should continue taking your time for resting and calmness in your life.

Tilt It is inspired by stone balancing, an art, discipline or hobby in which rocks are naturally balanced on top of one another in various positions.
The act of balancing stones carries with it a practice of patience, mindfulness and a physical effort of changing balance.

My aim for the product is to stimulate the user to take a break from the constant time pressure, taking more time for calm moments: literally and metaphorically balancing out one’s life. Finding the balance between for example work and rest.

Made from the sensitive material ceramic stoneware. Reinforcing the sense of vulnerability, challenging the user’s focus while balancing the model. Experimenting with self made glazes, resulting in a variety of Tilt It models, suitable for calm moments.
