Saddlers
“A series of various ceramic bike saddles.
An everyday object, taken out of context by giving it a new value.”
Our aim for this project is taking bike saddles to a different dimension, by playing with the different properties that this organic however minimal shape in combination with the material ceramics have to offer.
Saddlers invites people to reframe everyday objects, looking at essential designs from a different perspective.
Not only from a professional point of view, but also with a little irony, by placing the everyday object in a new context.
The ceramic bike saddles can be seen as purely aesthetic pieces, or turned into functional objects.
For example, when you turn it around, into a salad bowl or a storage platter. You can use it as wall decoration or a collectable object, changing one ceramic saddle into a small exhibition series. Or you could, as we did ourselves, place it back onto the bike, use it as a replacement for the actual bike saddle. Saddlers is open for its own interpretation.
